It is commonly thought that young adulthood is a time of freedom and fun, however, for many young adults who are affected by depression, low mood or anxiety, life can be anything but fun. Depression Alliance Scotland is rolling out ‘Look OK…feel crap?’ in the Highlands. Aimed at 18-35 year olds, the campaign will raise awareness of depression and anxiety through public advertising and delivering self-help management courses.
DAS is currently seeking partners to deliver the self-help courses. Courses can be delivered to an organisation’s client group, or to the wider public who are within the 18-35 age range. The course allows participants to identify why they feel low, and what positive steps they can take to help themselves. The courses are delivered free of charge and all organisations are offered the opportunity to receive practitioner training for future delivery.
The courses use the
Living Life to the Full approach. Courses can be delivered flexibly and can start with a ‘taster’ session to trial the approach with staff or possible participants.
It is easy to get involved – either by requesting promotional materials to circulate to your networks, finding out more about becoming a training partner or by simply including information about the campaign in your next newsletter or e-bulletin.
